Poetry Lovers: My Pilgrim's Progress

My Pilgrim’s Progress

By Bernard Demaere

Walking down “World Way”

Which joins the “Deception Street”

I kept going onto “Lustful Park”

Where everything is lighted in the dark.

Going up a road overgrown with trees,

Without leaves nor flowers,

The walk was cold,

And I looked up,

And there was the name,

“Conviction”

I finally arrived at “Confession Point”

And unloaded my pack too heavy for me,

But didn’t find anyone to carry it,

But out there, was a rugged tree.

But only there as I bowed,

I could see the present in His-story,

Then I took the “Forgiveness Alley”

And at my Savior’s feet my burden I laid.

Now, I am on “Heaven’s Way”

It rains at times, but the Son will stay,

Jesus is Lord, God is God and leads me Home,

As in my life He came, I put Him on the Throne!
