Allegory

Allegory By Bernard Demaere   As the sun sets in the corner of the sky, He is surrounded by a host of clouds, A ray of sunshine is all I want, To make my hope secure, In a bright future.   As the Son stands on his throne He is worshipped by a choir of angels, Filled with the heavenly glory that I long for, My hope is secure in Christ, My anchor is set on the Rock.

Poetry Lovers: My Mental Illness

My Mental Illness By Bernard Demaere   Everyone must still wonder, How it all happens, Mental illness, by and by, Slowly, Unexpectedly, It creeps in on you, It is a process, Of an unloved story, It feels weird (you know?) No one can help you, Because, They don’t really know, You are the expert, If you know your self, It is like drowning, Eternally, Losing your breath To regain it just in time, One minute or an hour, You are you And happy, The other, You are sad and irrational, But it is imprisoned in your thoughts, Nobody would recognize you, Or, Think you are the same person, Eyebrows would be raised, In amazement, If they only knew, What is troubling you, What is troubling me? Mental illness makes people wonder.

Poetry Lovers: A Scene at Sunset

A Scene at Sunset By Bernard Demaere   The Sun, I couldn’t see, Was behind the mountains. The dark silhouettes were cutting. The sky was still blue like the sea. But over yonder were clouds of rain.   The shining Sun was confounding, Left a glance on clouds already pink. Floating high above, they overlooked, That scene and that’s all it took, And that was the miracle, just like a painting. This was the ending.

Poetry Lovers: The Prayer Garden

The Prayer Garden By Bernard Demaere   Like a flower, Is each prayer! He takes them one by one, In His Garden.   He cares for them, He sprinkles, One at a time, every day, ‘Till fully grown.   Some are picked now, Some will be for later, But one glorious day, I know, I will see my gardener.   And those flowers, the same, He will have gathered, Then fragrance and beauty, Will send a perfume unto, Eternity.

Poetry Lovers: One Step

One Step By Bernard Demaere   Looking at His face, In my Father’s eyes, Presently, He is holding my hand…   I did it! I did it!!! Another step, In the heavenly snow! For some it is… A minute tiny, Advancement… But for me, It is A major Accomplishment. One step… In The Right direction. One step… And I can see The smile On His face. One step… And He can see The excitement Back in mine.

Poetry Lovers: A Cowboy in the City

A Cowboy in the City By Bernard Demaere   A cowboy came in the city. It was one of those southern hot days. People saw him and were afraid and dismayed. It was long time ago in Texas City.   His heavy boots kept in the dirt. His large foot prints pressed down. His look was one that hurt. His eyes were beautifully brown.   Everybody thought he was very cool, But in a while that giant would be gone. Yes, that man was cool, even his heart was cool! Look at his footprints! How the wind away had  blown. Note: Hopefully I will be posting poetry on  Mondays, Wednesday and Saturdays.  I hope you  are doing great and enjoy this.

Poetry Lovers: A Fly

A Fly A fly, Coming through the open window, Uninvited, winged monster, Darkly clothed, And landing on my paper. Its legs, thin and crossed, Become linked And, inked, To the page. As I write a story About elements, Seemingly, Unnecessary, In all creation, Like the fly, And the mosquito, Touching, The dead, And the living, And leaving, In the end, A bloody mess, Of scraps and bones. He is kind, but not blind, He will let you know gently.   He does not want what you have, He wants your best. Poetry Lovers: 2020

2020 Bernard Demaere   The year of perfect vision, The dawn of a new day, The world is in confusion, But we are his possession.   With perfect vision we, Embrace the call to, Suffer for him and do, His will, perfectly.   Theirs is no greater cause, Christ crucified, now in glory, Looking on us from his throne, Nevertheless, with us in prayer.   Don’t look to anyone else, For comfort and strength, He knows all your thoughts, He feels all your pain.   Flee from worthless temptations, Focus instead on the prize of, Your salvation, the crown of life, But, most of all on the destination.   The awesome glory in the heavenly, Of being with Christ through eternity, No more tears and no more pain, All will be forgiven and all will be gain.
