Unmasking The Truth
We hear a lot about masking and unmasking these days. We often hear about the duty of wearing a mask for protection of self and others. It seems that wearing a mask in our personality has now become materialized in wearing one on our face.
We find out now that wearing a mask is not as healthy for us as it is claimed to be.
Life is not allowing us to wear masks but we are determined to do it.
You have heard it right a mask is to protect yourself and want to cover every part of ourselves as much as we can. We like to cover the truth about ourselves and we succeed by wearing different masks.
The truth, it is the reality about us and who we are. We are afraid of showing up to people the beauty of who we are and some of us carry baggage with all our ugly stuff to be unloaded in moments of loneliness and anger. It seems to show up at our most vulnerable times.
It is perhaps high time to unmask the truth not necessarily to others but to our self or to God. You need healing in your innermost being because right now it is showing up its reality through your body in the form of a illness of physical disability.
If you think that I have not done it think again. I have done it in reality and my mental illness is just that. It's an accumulation of baggage affecting my brain physically. I had to come through the realisation that those bad memories were affecting spiritually and mentally and also physically.
I have thought about it a lot and whatever is in our spirit and mind will end up affecting us physically no doubt about it. It has to be dealt with before it's too late.
A Mirror Called Ugly
Bernard Demaere
I am beautiful and bright,
But daily,
I carry around a mirror called “Ugly,”
It makes me trip and stumble,
It murmurs to me
All day long,
The same song,
The mirror called “Ugly,”
Some call it, “mental illness”,
Some call it, “stigma,”
I just call it “Ugly,”
‘cause,
It’s a broken,
Impression
Of me.
