Is Anger Relevant Today?
A mentally ill person could also have some anger issues but let's face it, don't we all in the human category have some anger issues at some level or another. What matters though is that this anger we all suffer from be healed or resolved. Basically, that the pain associated with it be healed and myself I don't know anybody else who can do that but Jesus Christ alone. Any other way will stuff your anger back in you, but will not deal with you.
Anyway, we seem to hear a lot about anger lately. You know what? It was there all along but it was under "control" meaning in this sense that it was suppressed. Like a can of pop under pressure ready to explode.
Demonstrations of anger are seen everyday in our homes, schools. We have easily accepted uncontrolled anger in our society. Mind you that anger is not a crime, we say. But crime is the next step after anger. If anger is not dealt with in our society what do we have is crime like stealing, looting is crime, people! Are we going to accept that too? Our society is slowly desensitized from crime of all kinds.
Do you know that anger is found in great people? I am talking about constructive anger. It takes more effort to come up with a valid reason to have a dignified anger than one that is going to make you feel very small at the end after you lash out at somebody. I got so tired after a while of apologizing every time I got angry that I quit considerably.
In other words, it's a lot easier to lash out at somebody than pause for a minute and then....speak. I am still practicing that one. It's a lifetime adventure but I feel it's worth the effort because people around me are worth the effort. I used to be very angry...What happened? I have sat in a lot of self improvement classes and on my own I have learned the value of people and also my value. They are worth it and I am too. So I try to keep my voice down. Uncontrolled anger will always diminish your own value. When I hear people speaking out swear words I really feel sorry for them because it make them look really cheap. I guess talk can be cheap sometimes. Your words say a lot about you.
Advice to the Wise
Bernard Demaere
Watch your tongue,
When you are young.
When you are a teenager,
Put aside anger.
Love your neighbor,
Your parents, siblings too,
And everyone around you.
For before long,
If you don’t watch
Your words,
They may come and bite you,
Like crabs,
On your back
And all around.
Then,
Your words of love,
Will be powerless
And quite undone.
Meaningless,
And without pardon,
If you don’t watch your tongue.
