Frustration: An Excusable Emotion
Frustration is not a bad emotion as long it is directed to yourself. Once it gets to be destructive toward other people it becomes unbearable to them, so I guess our frustration can wait. I am being sarcastic.
Although frustration is anger turned inward, it needs to be talked about and dealt with whatever our religious beliefs are. Well, is it a normal emotion like anger is? Is anger a good emotion? Yes it is but not the destructive kind. So what about frustration? Nobody speak about it in speeches or discussions, nobody deals with it. Maybe we don't know how. But we sure can experience it at any time of the day.
We are just frustrated about frustration I guess and we settle for the status quo.
We are just going to stay like that till our dying days. What a life?
The things I find about my frustration is that it shows up its ugly head when I am unable to do something in a timely manner, like being the handyman around the house You see, when I was a child I was repeatedly told by my parents that I was "slow in school", not only that, but my teacher would say the same thing and then later my bosses. So in my mind I agreed with all of them because surely not all of them could have been wrong at the same time.
This is really good for me to share this with you all because I can now see where my frustration with myself and other people come from. I also get frustrated (inner frustration)with people who can't be as fast as I want them to be.
Maybe, you are like me frustrated about things in your life. What is it? A job? A situation?
1) Find out what you are really frustrated at a certain time.
2) Write it down when you are in a frustrating situation
3) Narrow it down even to the emotions you are feeling at the time
Maybe with us dealing with our own individual frustration we will become a bit happier and easier to be around.
Just a thought! Maybe your wife will like it .
There are not just jobs that are frustrating, maybe the kind of job you have or some unfulfilled goals.
Opportunities we have missed.
No worries life is more than dreams. Sometimes life doesn't turn the way we want or have dreamed to be, but we still can enjoy what it hands us out when it comes and the most important thing is to always be thankful.
I wrote this poem when I was very frustrated with my life. This is what frustration means to me when I don't get it my way.
My Flame is Gone
Bernard Demaere
My flame is gone
My dreams are gone,
No strength is left,
I have spent it all
On the reef of my soul.
No more delay,
No more clay,
All is white
Like ashes,
Gone with the wind.
I have been down
Before, but this tops
It higher than
My eyebrows
Could ever go.
